SEATTLE —
A man was shot early Wednesday morning outside of a Belltown bar, according to the Seattle Police Department.
The incident happened shortly after 2 a.m. near the Twilight Martini Lounge on Western Avenue and Blanchard Street.
Police said two security guards saw a disturbance in a parking lot, across the street from the bar and then heard multiple shots being fired.
After the gunshots, security guards saw a man running away from the scene, according to police. A description of the man is unknown at this time.
The man was taken to Harborview Medical Center in a private vehicle. As of Wednesday morning, the man was in surgery, and sustained gunshot wounds to the abdomen and hand.
When officers arrived at the scene, they looked throughout the area for the suspects, but no one was found.
According to police, witnesses would not cooperate, and the investigation will remain active and on-going.
This incident is the second Belltown shooting in three days. On Monday, a man was shot in the leg.
KIRO 7 Eyewitness News Reporter Alexandra Limon spoke with residents who live in the Belltown neighborhood and they were concerned with the recent shootings.
“I’m like a single woman alone, with a little dog, not like my dog is going to protect me. So it is a little scary,” said Belltown resident Shauna Marshall.
Ky Huggins shops in businesses in Belltown and at Pike’s market regularly, but avoids the area at night and worries for his daughters.
“As sad as it is to say about the city I grew up in, you tell your people not to go to certain places,” said Ky Huggins. “We got two daughters, 21 and 24, and we say, ‘Have a great night out, but avoid the Belltown area, avoid downtown.’”
People told KIRO 7 that they are worried about being caught in the middle of a shooting.
