Semitruck hits vehicle in Fife

FIFE, Wash. —

A woman and a 10-year-old girl were injured after their vehicle was hit by a semitruck Wednesday morning, said the Fife Police Department.

Crews responded to the collision on 54th Street East and 12th Avenue.

Lt. Tom Thompson told KIRO 7 Eyewitness News a semitruck was traveling over the speed limit when it struck a vehicle and pushed it into the side of a building.

A woman and a girl in the vehicle were hurt and taken to the hospital, but their injuries do not appear to be severe.

According to police, the semitruck drove into a power pole and live lines landed on it, which trapped the driver inside.

Due to the collision, the surrounding area experienced a power outage, which was restored to all 300 customers before 2 p.m.

Police told KIRO 7 reporter Kevin McCarty that the driver of the semitruck was placed under arrest and he was not cooperative with officers.

The incident is still under investigation.
