KIRKLAND, Wash. —

Two brothers riding a motorcycle died Saturday evening after their bike hit a curb and fell onto a Kirkland street.

Eldon and Gerald Lutz were killed in the accident.

Investigators are looking at what led up to the crash. In their preliminary findings, investigators said they found evidence both brothers were on the  motorcycle.

They say the one driving it somehow accelerated, lost control, hit this curb and flew into the street below.

The initial report from police said the incident happened around 6:15 p.m. when police responded to a report of a motorcycle crash in the 11600 block of Northeast 132nd Street. According to police, two men riding a motorcycle were traveling north in the parking lot of a park-and-ride when the vehicle hit a curb at a high rate of speed. Police said the bike fell about 15 to 20 feet down onto Northeast 132nd Street.

One of the riders was hit by a passing vehicle in the westbound lane.

Both men were taken to Harborview Medical Center, and both later died from their injuries.

An eyewitness told KIRO 7 that it looked like the motorcyclist was an experienced rider.

“I saw the guy practicing his motorcycle for like 20 minutes at least, and then I was watching him and he just went over the cliff,” said Sarah Heines.

The traffic investigation unit was at the scene and closed the area for several hours.
