SEATTLE —
Two people are dead and two others injured after a collision on I-5 in downtown Seattle, Seattle Fire Department spokeswoman Dana Vander Houwen said.
At 2:45 a.m. Saturday, Seattle Fire Department emergency units responded to northbound Interstate 5 near Lakeview Boulevard, where one car was involved in a collision with a Fire Department medic unit.
A Washington State Patrol spokesperson told KIRO 7 Eyewitness News that the car apparently struck another car and then spun into the medic unit from behind.
Two people in the car died at the scene, and two people in the medic unit, a man and a woman, were taken to Harborview Medical Center with non-life-threatening injuries, Vander Houwen said.
No one in the second car was injured.
The collision closed down northbound I-5 at Mercer Street for several hours while Washington State Patrol officials investigated.
Investigators said they believe alcohol was involved with the accident.
