2nd lawsuit filed to block I-1183

Another lawsuit has been filed against the initiative voters just approved to take Washington state out of the liquor business.

The Seattle Times reports that plaintiffs in the new case include two Red Apple grocery stores, a landlord who rents to a current state liquor store and the Washington Association for Substance Abuse and Violence Prevention. Others are involved in the lawsuit, as well, but the lawyer who filed the suit won’t reveal who or what those other people or organizations are.

The suit alleges that the initiative violated a rule that requires voter initiatives to address just one subject.

Earlier this week, two unions filed another lawsuit, claiming that hundreds of workers the unions represent could lose their jobs if the initiative goes into effect.
