Three people were injured Friday after a sport-utility vehicle crashed into a car and into a gas pump in Kirkland, police said.

The incident happened at the 76 Station located in the 14100 block of Juanita Drive Northeast in the afternoon.

Police said the SUV collided into a BMW in a nearby intersection, and then crashed into a pump at the gas station.

The SUV caught on fire, and spread to the building, said the fire officials.

Kirkland firefighters, along with Northshore and Bothell firefighters, responded to the scene and controlled the fire.

KIRO 7 Eyewitness News reporter Alison Grande spoke with Adam Dolhanyk who saw the SUV crash.

“I heard was a loud bang. I look up and there is an SUV on fire in the gas station and you look closer, and you see there’s the fuel pump right under the SUV’s front tires,” said Dolhanyk. “The next question is, is this thing going to blow up, the whole gas station.”

Amarjit Singh is an employee at the gas station. He ran outside immediately after turning off the gas pumps.

“I shut off the emergency pumps, and I saw fire. Big fire, all smoke,” said Singh. “That’s very dangerous, I was scared.”

Two men inside the SUV escaped out the back of the vehicle, and a woman in the BMW was injured.

The three people suffered non-life-threatening injuries in the crash and were taken to Evergreen Hospital.

Eyewitnesses told KIRO 7 that no pedestrians were hit.

“It’s amazing it wasn’t worse. One car on fire, one car smashed and nobody was hit that whole time, and there’s a lot of people walking down the street,” said Dolhanyk.
