A 4-year-old 5-year-old* Rochester, Washington, boy was airlifted to Harborview Medical Center in Seattle on Friday afternoon after he apparently shot himself in the arm, KIRO 7 South Sound Bureau Chief Richard Thompson reported.

The bullet went through the boy's bicep and out his hand, Thompson said. Paramedics said his injuries did not appear to be life-threatening.

"I've heard that he's gonna be fine. His vitals are good, and they're gonna be going up to see my grandson," said Mitzi Rodriguez, the boy's grandmother.

Asked by Thompson how big of a scare the incident was, Rodriguez said, "This was pretty scary."

It isn't clear how the boy got ahold of the gun.
