5-Year-Old Injured In Drive-By Shooting

TACOMA, Wash. —

Tacoma police are investigating a drive-by shooting that left a 5-year-old boy injured.

Investigators say shooters came by earlier in the evening, shooting at the apartment on 75th Street Court, but did not hit anyone. Police responded and the intended target refused to say anything to police.

The shooters came back hours later after the police left and shot up the apartment again, wounding the 5-year-old boy.

Detective Ed Troyer said the shooting was a part of an escalation of gang warfare in Pierce County and Tacoma.

The child remains in intensive care, but is expected to survive.
