BELLINGHAM. Wash. —

Surveillance video shows a missing Whatcom County man moments before he vanished without a trace.

The surveillance video from the Bellingham bus depot captured the last known images of Bobby Johnson.

The 72-year-old is seen walking in and then sitting down in wearing a blue jacket and red baseball cap a week ago from Saturday.

Family members said Johnson and his wife took the bus from the Lummi Reservation to Bellingham, where they had a drink at the Horseshoe Tavern and then headed back to the bus depot.

A clock in the video when Johnson was seen showed 6:10 p.m., and the last bus home had left about 20 minutes earlier.

Johnson’s wife headed to her son’s house nearby, but Johnson said he’d take a cab home, but never called one.

“He could be in a ditch.  He could have fallen in the river.  Somebody could have beaten him up and dragged him out and dumped him in a field somewhere.  We don't know.  That's the hardest part,” said Johnson’s nephew, Victor Solomon Jr.

Solomon said Johnson suffers from memory loss.

Johnson’s family searched a home he lived in 40 years ago in hopes that he was confused, but he wasn’t there.

"He was always going to be home right away.  He makes a straight path to where he goes and he comes right back home,” said Johnson’s son-in-law, Cyril Morris.

Relatives said if Johnson tried to walk home, he would have taken Eldridge and Marine View, where police are asking neighbors to be on the lookout.

“We're asking property owners to check their property lines as well as any outbuildings,”  said Bellingham police Officer Mark Young.

There has been no activity on the missing man’s bank account.
