SEATTLE —
Rebecca Dietz described how her estranged boyfriend broke into her home and shot her in front of her three children early in the morning on May 3.
“It was like midnight, and he broke the door open,” Dietz said. “He tried killing me. I got hit six times.”
“He said that since I didn’t want him anymore, he was going to kill me,” she said. “And that’s why everything happened the way it did.”
Dietz was airlifted to Harborview Medical Center with six gunshot wounds, including two to the head. Her estranged boyfriend was captured and charged with felony assault. He had a history of violence with Dietz, spelled out in two restraining orders.
Dietz remained a week away from being released from the hospital and reuniting with her children, she said.
“God said everything’s going to be OK; you’re going to be alive, and I’m going to love you no matter what,” she said. “And I’m totally thankful.”
