Alaska Airlines Reaches Tentative Deals With 3,700 Employees

SEATTLE —

Seattle-based Alaska Airlines announced Friday that it has reached tentative agreements on two contracts covering more than 3,700 employees.

One agreement covers Alaska's more than 3,100 customer service and reservations sales agents. The other covers more than 600 ramp service and stores agents, who include baggage handlers and workers who guide planes to and from terminal gates.

The company said terms of the tentative deals would not be disclosed until a ratification vote by International Association of Machinists and Aerospace Workers District 143.

In statements posted on the union's Web site Friday, both negotiating committees said they were recommending approval.

The ratification process is expected to begin within the next two weeks.
