The spree began in Seattle's University District when a homeowner found the man in his house with a gun. The intruder allegedly took off in the homeowner's car, ditched it and carjacked a second vehicle.

The carjacker stopped near the Museum of History and Industry and was trying to carjack a third car, police said. The museum locked its doors and the man tried to flee, but drove into Lake Washington.

Some lanes of the 520 Floating Bridge were closed for a few minutes while police looked for the man, KIRO 7 Eyewitness News reported.

The man was picked up by Harbor Patrol officers and taken to Harborview Medical Center to be checked for injuries.
