BELLINGHAM, Wash. —
Video: Homes, Cars Lost To Fire
The Whatcom County Fire Marshal's office says a small grass fire near Bellingham was set with the intent to destroy the home.
A neighbor extinguished the fire Tuesday night before it caused any damage.
Investigators believe it is the 17th fire set in the area in three years. They have caused more than $500,000.
A mobile home, storage sheds and an old car are among the things targeted in the series of fires.
"The individual or individuals who are doing this are looking for easy targets," said Bill Hewett, Fire Inspector.
The fires have been set near the intersection of Yew Street Road and Samish Way.
