Dawn Salmonson, 43, was behind the wheel Tuesday night when her car plunged off Highway 203 into the Snoqualmie River near Carnation.

The State Patrol says alcohol was a factor in the crash.

Salmonson's daughter Destiny was belted into her booster chair in the back seat.

Despite Salmonson's reported attempts to rescue her daughter, the little girl drowned.

Despite pleas from Salmonson's family and friends to release her on her own recognizance, the judge set bail at $75,000.

Prosecutors said Salmonson's blood alcohol level at the time of the accident was .23, which is nearly three times the legal limit.

In court, her grown son told the judge that his mother is a "good person who made a bad choice."
