Bicyclist Hurt In Collision With Van Dies



SEATTLE —

A woman on her bicycle who collided with a van in West Seattle on Wednesday has died, the medical examiner's office said.

The 26-year-old woman was on her bike at 35th Avenue Southwest and Southwest Graham Street when she collided with the van as it turned the corner at about 7:45 a.m. She hit the vehicle head-on at a "high rate of speed," police said.

She was taken to Harborview Medical Center a head injury. The medical examiner's office said she died at the hospital.

Video from Chopper 7 showed the bicycle and a bike helmet lying in the intersection as police investigated. The bike left dents in the side of the van.

Police said the van's driver might be ticketed for an improper turn and could face criminal charges.
