Body Found In Lewis County May Be That Of Homicide Suspect

LEWIS COUNTY, Wash. —

Lewis County detectives found identification next to a body found at Riffe Lake Wednesday that belongs to a man who is a suspect in a homicide in Denver.

Police said they found the 49-year-old Colorado man’s identification in a backpack next to the badly-decomposed remains, but a positive identification on the body has not been made.

Police said the wanted man’s vehicle was found near Blue Lake Campground, outside of Randle, on April 26. The vehicle was impounded but the suspect was not located.

According to Denver officials, the man was wanted in connection with the slaying of his girlfriend in March.

Detectives said they are working with the Lewis County Coroner to determine cause of death and to make a positive identification.
