Boy, 5, Killed In Gold Bar Crash

GOLD BAR, Wash. —

A 5-year-old boy was killed in an SUV crash east of Gold Bar Monday afternoon, reported KIRO 7 Eyewitness News.

Snohomish County Sheriff's Department spokesman Rebecca Hover said the crash happened in the 44000 block of Fir Road in unincorporated Gold Bar shortly before 2 p.m. RAW VIDEO: Chopper 7 Video Of Crash Scene

Police said the 27-year-old male driver of a Dodge Durango was traveling along Fir Road when he veered off the road and struck a tree.

When paramedics responded, a 5-year-old boy who was in the back seat of the SUV was pronounced dead at the scene. A 3-year-old girl, also in the back seat, was airlifted to Harborview Medical Center.

Both children and the driver are residents of Gold Bar. The 3-year-old is believed to be the driver's daughter. It is unclear if the 5-year-old is related to the driver, who suffered facial and back injuries. He was transported by ambulance to Harborview.

Deputies said they believe the 3-year-old girl was in a child seat. It is not yet known if the 5-year-old boy was in a child seat or if he was wearing a seatbelt.
