Brame Family Attorney Wants To Add Tacoma Mayor And Former City Manager To Lawsuit

TACOMA —

The attorney for the family of Crystal Brame --

the woman who was killed by her police-chief husband before he

killed himself -- wants to add Tacoma Mayor Bill Baarsma, former

City Manager Ray Corpuz and former assistant police chief Catherine

Woodard to the family's wrongful-death lawasuit against the city.

Seattle lawyer Paul Luvera filed a motion this week asking Pierce

County Superior Court Judge John McCarthy to allow him to add the

three as defendants in the suit. Brame's parents, sister and two

children sued the city in October, alleging that officials caused

her death by giving her husband, Tacoma Police Chief David Brame,

power and a gun and then ignoring signs he was unstable.

David

Brame fatally shot his estranged wife and himself last April. It's

not immediately known when McCarthy will rule on the request.
