SEATTLE —

A bug in a recent update Amazon's iOS Kindle app appears to have deleted users' entire book libraries, according to a GeekWire report.

"Note: There is a known issue with this update," the app read under its update information on Wednesday morning. "If you are an existing Kindle for iOS user, we recommend you do not install this update at this time."

GeekWire quotes several comments from unhappy users.

"The update deleted all books from my iPad, and I had to register again, creating a second name for the same iPad," one user complained. "It's like starting all over again. Now I have to upload over 130 books from the cloud."

A new update was available on Wednesday afternoon, which fixed “various bug fixes and security fixes.”
