A passenger standing up through the sunroof of a black sport utility vehicle fired at someone on the sidewalk at Northeast 45th Street and University Way Northeast at about 2 a.m.

Police said a 23-year-old man believed to be an innocent bystander was hit in the shoulder. He was being treated at Harborview Medical Center.

Another person was apparently hit because police followed a trail of blood up the sidewalk, but they did not find the victim.

The black SUV, possibly a Cadillac Escalade, sped away after the shooting and police were searching for the car.
