Car Crashes Off I-90 Express Lanes In Bellevue, Killing Driver

BELLEVUE, Wash. —

The Washington State Patrol is investigating a fatal crash involving a car that ended up in the Mercer Slough off I-90 in Bellevue Saturday.

The patrol said that the car was spotted in the Slough, upside down, by someone driving across I-90 Saturday morning.

Bellevue fire department, Mercer Island fire department and state patrol responded.

Two firefighters jumped in the water and found a man seat-belted inside the car.

The man was pronounced dead at the scene.

The state patrol has interviewed an eyewitness who reported a speeding car Friday night hitting something in the same area of the I-90 express lanes.

A trooper investigated but could not find any evidence of a crash.

State patrol said the victim may be a 19-year-old man from the Kent area.

The King County Medical Examiner will release the victim's name.
