Carnation Man Pleads Guilty To Starving Daughter

SEATTLE —

A Carnation man who was accused of starving his then-14-year-old daughter pleaded guilty Monday to first-degree criminal mistreatment.

Jon Pomeroy, 43, entered the plea Monday in King County Superior Court. Prosecutors say they'll seek a sentence of more than three years, and they're still pressing charges against the girl's stepmother, who has pleaded not guilty to allegations she oversaw the abuse.

The girl was 14 years old, just 4 feet 7 inches tall and weighed only 48 pounds when neighbors called police a year ago to report that they heard screaming from the home. Authorities said all of her teeth were rotting.

She told investigators her stepmother, Rebecca Long, 45, supervised her showers and toothbrushing so she could not sneak extra water.

The girl has gained weight but isn't expected to grow much taller.
