CBS: Old mine stores millions of photos for Gates-owned Corbis

CBS News got an inside look at the high-security facility inside an old mine where millions of American photographs and films are stored to be preserved.

 

The collection of pictures, glass plates and other historic memories is owned by Corbis -- a Seattle-company owned by Bill Gates.

 

Today the CBS Early Show got a tour of the facility that's just north of Pittsburgh -- along with a look at original photographs that have not been seen in years.

 

Some of what CBS News correspondent Whit Johnson saw there includes famous snapshots and never-before-seen photographs of icons like Marilyn Monroe, Albert Einstein and Abraham Lincoln. Check out his full report in the video below.
