BELLINGHAM —

The Coast Guard has called off its search for two

men in Bellingham Bay.

Petty Officer Adam Eggers says the search was called at 7-30

p-m Saturday night.

Earlier the Coast Guard reported that debris was found in the

Bay. The debris -- including four life jackets, a gas can and

folding chair -- has been confirmed to be from the men's boat.

Weather Saturday when the boat was in trouble included 20 to 25

knot wind gusts, with waves up to four-feet high.

A friend called for help from the beach about 7:30 Friday night to

say the two men had failed to return from retrieving crab pots. The

friend says they'd planned to return to shore immediately. Their names have not been released.
