SEATTLE —

Consumer Reports has issued a nationwide warning about a barbecue bristle brush that was the subject of a KIRO 7 Eyewitness News story on Friday.

Connie Sample was grilling, and accidentally ingested a bristle from his barbecue cleaning brush.

It ultimately got lodged in his small intestine, and doctors had to surgically remove six inches of it.

A similar thing happened to a man from Trenton, New Jersey.

Consumer Reports warned barbecuers to check their owners manuals to see what type of brush is recommended for their grill.
