EVERETT, Wash. —

Richard Clark, the man convicted of raping and murdering 7-year-old Roxanne Doll in 1995, admitted Friday that he did kill the girl, after years of denying it.

Clark made an agreement with Snohomish County prosecutors to confess to the crime in exchange for being taken off death row. Clark will spend the rest of his life in prison.

Clark stood before a judge and Doll’s family Friday afternoon and confessed that he kidnapped, raped and then killed Doll.

“I killed her so my rape of her would not be discovered, and because I thought she would tell. I alone bear the blame,” Clark said.

Clark’s admission of killing Doll came on the anniversary of her death 11 years ago.
