CLE ELUM, Wash. —
The Kittitas County Coroner says State Senator Scott White died from a previously-undiagnosed enlarged heart.
Deputy Coroner Paul Sander says an autopsy was performed Sunday on the Senator.
Based on the investigation and autopsy results, it was determined that Senator White died alone in his room of the cardiac event.
White was found dead in a Cle Elum hotel room Friday.
Spokeswoman Dana Robinson Slote said Friday night that White died earlier in the day.
Slote told KIRO 7 late Friday the senator was at the Suncadia resort for a Seattle Chamber of Commerce Event, and was scheduled to be part of panel earlier in the day.
The Democrat represented the state's 46th District, covering northern parts of Seattle.
He served as the Senate's majority whip and worked most recently as a project manager at the University of
Washington.
Gov. Gregoire's Statement
"My heart goes out to the family of Senator Scott White tonight. Scott was a dedicated public servant and champion of important issues in Olympia. He was never afraid to tackle the difficult problems - and did so with a positive attitude, which I always appreciated. I found him to be an absolute pleasure to work with, and a legislator who served his district and the entire state well. He had a bright and promising future ahead of him. My family and I will keep Scott and his family in our thoughts and prayers."
Governor Christine Gregoire calls Senator White a "dedicated public servant and champion of important issues in Olympia."
Senate Majority Leader Lisa Brown says White was an extraordinarily talented leader who approached the job with a rare
level of nobility and honor.
Scott is survived by his wife and two children.
He was 41 years old.
