Crane Shut Down In Bellevue

BELLEVUE, Wash. —

An irregularity was noticed in a large crane at a Hanover Construction site Thursday morning, company spokesman Scott Lee told KIRO 7 Eyewitness News.

The site was voluntarily vacated, and a crane specialist was called in for an inspection.

The Department of Labor and Industries spent the evening looking over the towering structure.

Lee said the department has not determined whether the irregularity is a public safety issue.

The crane will be monitored overnight, and the construction site is expected to reopen Friday morning.

Two weeks ago, a 210-foot crane collapsed on several buildings in downtown Bellevue, killing Microsoft attorney Matt Ammon.
