Crews Battle Stubborn Pier Fire

SEATTLE —

Firefighters attacked a stubborn pier fire with water from above and below, knocking it down before it could spread to a nearby 100-foot ship Monday evening.

Crews freed the derelict ship from the pier, near Salty's in West Seattle, but not before the blaze scorched the side of the "Coastal Ranger."

Video from Chopper 7 showed firefighters climbing through thick, dark smoke to get water on the blaze.
