MASON COUNTY, Wash. —

Crews located three women on Mount Ellinor who were not prepared for a chilly night, said Dean Byrd of the Mason County Sheriff’s Office.

The mother of one of the women called 911 around 4:30 p.m. and said that the women were lost. They were told to stay where they were and the rescuers would come find them.

Chopper 7 tried to help searchers locate the women, but they were unable to find them. The women said they could see our chopper, but our crews could not see them. At one point, the women tried to call our photographer in Chopper 7, but the women's cell phone did not have a signal.

Search and rescue workers eventually met up with the women and made their way down the mountain.

The women were in good condition and no one needed medical attention.

Mason County Fire District #18 and District #1 from Hoodsport were part of the rescue crews.

Crews from Olympic Mountain Rescue and Mason County Search and Rescue are attempting to reach the women before nightfall. The women are are only wearing shorts and light-clothing, Byrd said.

Mount Ellinor is one of the southern-most peaks in the Olympics
