Search crew looks for missing man on Skagit River

LYMAN, Wash. —

Search efforts continue for a man who went missing Saturday evening on the Skagit River.

Crews started searching for the man before 4:30 p.m. KIRO 7 Eyewitness News learned that someone called 911 reporting a boat was doing circles in the water and it was stuck in reverse.

“I heard something slam into the rocks, and then I talked to the fire department and they said there was no one was in the boat. No one was around,” said witness Nick Stormont.

During the search, crews found the man’s dog.

The family of the man told KIRO 7 that he was alone on his boat.

Residents who lived in the area said that they kept hearing an eerie sound.

“The guy’s phone has been ringing in the boat, but they’re waiting for the sheriffs to come in. They got his wallet and everything in there. Somebody’s looking for him, already wanting to know why he isn’t answering his phone, so it’s just a sad deal,” said neighbor Donny Adkerson.

Adkerson said other neighbors came out to help with the search.

KIRO 7 learned the river has been higher than normal at this time of the year and the water is very cold.
