EVERETT —

Three people were taken into custody Thursday night after a driver led police on a chase through Everett, which resulted in a standoff at a home near the Tulalip Reservation.

The chase started just before 6:30 p.m. when a state trooper tried to stop a vehicle that had expired tabs on Broadway Avenue in Everett, the Washington State Patrol said. The vehicle didn’t stop, and officers chased it as it traveled onto Interstate 5, State Route 529 and then onto the reservation near 14th Street.

The vehicle headed down a road with a gate and struck a light pole, which fell down, the State Patrol said. A trooper stopped the chase because he couldn’t get past the gate.

Troopers, with help from the Tulalip Police Department, later found the vehicle abandoned and used a K-9 unit to track the suspect to a home, the State Patrol said. Tulalip police said they knew the suspect and had prior encounters with him.

Police talked three women and a man out of the home, who said the suspect was still inside, the State Patrol said. It isn’t clear if that was the case, but police said later they had arrested a 25-year-old woman and a 21-year-old woman on outstanding warrants, and a 23-year-old man who was suspected in the chase.

The man, from Tulalip, was booked into the Snohomish County Jail on suspicion of residential burglary, felony drug possession, eluding police, driving with a suspended license and outstanding warrants, the State Patrol said.
