SEATTLE —

A man who was shot and killed near Woodland Park last week was trying to buy marijuana from his killer when the shooting happened, according to a probable cause affidavit.

Police arrested a 33-year-old suspect in connection with the killing on Tuesday, the Seattle Police Department said. The man was booked into the King County Jail for investigation of murder.

The victim was identified by his family as Reverend Precious Reed, a father of four.

The shooting happened Monday evening near Woodland Park, around the intersection of North 60th Street and Aurora Avenue North, police said. Officers found Reed at about 5:15 p.m. He had suffered two gunshot wounds to his neck and one to his arm.

Reed was attempting to buy several pounds of marijuana from the suspect, the King County Prosecutor's Office said.

Police had little to go on initially, as several people heard the shots, but no one reported seeing anything.

Someone who was with Reed during the shooting, and whose car was shot at, identified the suspect, according to the affidavit. The suspect's phone records placed him at the scene, and he told police that he shot Reed during a physical struggle.
