SEATTLE —

Police arrested a suspect in Federal Way on Tuesday afternoon after a bank security guard was stabbed on First Hill late that morning, the Seattle Police Department said.

The attack happened at about 10:41 a.m. at the Bank of America branch at 1201 Madison Street, police said. A man walked in and asked about opening an account, and then told a teller he'd be back later to complete the paperwork. The man walked out of the bank and stabbed the guard twice in the abdomen. (Editor's note: the Seattle Fire Department originally reported the man had been stabbed in the leg.)

It wasn't immediately clear what prompted the stabbing.

The 30-year-old male victim was taken to Harborview Medical Center, the Seattle Fire said. Police said his injuries were not life-threatening.

Police said they would have more details later Tuesday.
