SEATTLE —
A couple was attacked by a man with a baseball bat in Seattle’s Ravenna neighborhood early Thursday.
Police said the attack happened in the southeast corner of Ravenna Park at Northeast 55th Street and west of 25th Avenue.
Seattle officers said 911 dispatchers received a call about 3:30 a.m. from someone who said they heard yelling and cries for help.
As officers arrived, two victims, a 41-year-old man and a 54-year-old woman, came out of a wooded area. They had been beaten with a baseball bat, investigators said.
Both victims had injuries to their heads and bodies.
According to the victims, the attacker was someone they had a dispute with earlier. Another man was with the attacker, but only the man with the bat struck the victims.
Officers said they searched Ravenna Park, but were unable to find anyone.
Police did find evidence of a small homeless camp in the park and think the two victims and one of the men in the attack may have been living there.
The victims’ injuries were serious, but not life-threatening.
Both victims were transported to a local hospital.
