EVERETT —

A man who was captured on video trying to rob an Everett smoke shop clerk at knifepoint last month is in custody, the Everett Police Department told KIRO 7's Chris Egert on Tuesday.

According to police, the man walked into a smoke shop in the 1000 block of North Broadway on January 11 and asked the clerk for a pack of "spicey." The clerk, who is also the owner of the shop, asked for payment in advance because of the value of the product, and the man pulled out a knife and demanded money. After not getting any money, the man ran out the door and the clerk chased him with a golf club.

During the robbery, the man wore a hat that looked like a husky, with the "tail" of the hat used to partially conceal the man's face.

The man was wanted for armed robbery, but there is no word yet on what charges he might face.
