SEATTLE —

Tacoma police are looking for a man they said robbed a laundromat employee at knifepoint shortly after the business closed Monday.

Tops Laundry, which is located in the 5400 block of South Sheridan Avenue, had just shut down when the man knocked on the building’s locked doors at about 9:35 p.m., Tacoma/Pierce County CrimeStoppers said. When the employee unlocked the door, the man pulled out a knife and demanded cash. The man took cash and the employee’s purse, and fled.

Police described the man as white and in his 20s, and about 5 feet 9 inches tall with a slender build, goatee and light brown hair, which he wore in a ponytail. He was seen during the robbery wearing black framed glasses, a dark-colored knit cap, gloves, a dark-colored jacket and white shoes.

CrimeStoppers is offering a reward of up to $1,000 for information leading to the man’s arrest and charges filed in the case.

Anyone with any information is asked to call 253-591-5959.
