SUMNER, Wash. —
An armed kidnapping and robbery suspect rolled his truck, ending a police chase in Sumner on Tuesday night, the Pierce County Sheriff's Office said.
The suspect, a fugitive from Snohomish County, was seen wearing a bulletproof vest and carry a high-powered rifle, KIRO 7 news partner The News Tribune said. Officers gave chase and tried to stop the man, which is when he rolled the truck, the Sheriff's Office said.

Witnesses told KIRO 7's Gary Horcher there were at least 15 police cars chasing the truck, which dodged kids as they returned from school. Witnesses also said police had their guns drawn as they approached the wreck and took guns out of the pickup.
