MOUNT VERNON, Wash. —

Two masked gunmen stormed into a house in Mt. Vernon and threatened to kill several people inside.

KIRO 7 North Sound reporter Lee Stoll spoke to one victim of Monday night's home invasion who declined to be identified.

The victim said he only had one thought as he had a gun pointed at his head.

"I was going to die.  It scared the hell out of us,” the victim said.

The man renting the house said he and three roommates were home on Monday night when they heard a knock at the door.  He said the girl who opened it was suddenly pushed over by two gunmen in ski masks.

The pair ordered everyone to the floor and then ransacked the house.

"They wanted cellphones and wallets, and they took a couple of laptops.  They got a grand total of $8."

The victim said the gunmen repeatedly asked where “the stuff” was, a strange request that left the victims wondering if the gunmen had the wrong house.

"I think they just made a mistake or something," the victim told Stoll.

After the men left, the victim ran to a house nearby and called police.

Police said the neighborhood is usually quiet.

“I spoke earlier with a block captain in that area who says we have normal neighborhood issues but nothing like this,” said Chris Cammock with Mt. Vernon police.

The victim said he’s now looking out his window, paranoid about who might ring his doorbell.
