TUKWILA, Wash. —

Police said shots fired into a SUV in Tukwila Thursday night led to the death of a 19-year-old woman.

The driver, who had been dating the victim, told police they had been in the SUV on Tukwila International Boulevard just south of Boeing Field when someone shot into the car from another vehicle, hitting the passenger.

Mike Murphy with Tukwila police said immediately after the shooting, the driver, a man in his 20s, tried to drive the woman to Harborview but was disoriented and stopped on Interstate 5 and called 911 at 9:15 p.m.

An ambulance met the Cadillac Escalade on I-5 near Dearborn in Seattle.  The woman was transported to Harborview, where she later died from her injuries.

The SUV had several bullet holes visible in the passenger-side window.

Tukwila police said they searched the area and found shell casings at South 116 Street and Tukwila International Boulevard.  That intersection was closed, and officers and detectives processed the scene for evidence.

Murphy said he didn’t believe the shooting was random and believes someone in the SUV was targeted, but said it was too early to tell if it was gang-related.

Police said they have no suspects in custody and are trying to develop details about the attack.
