Death Sentence Thrown Out For Murderer-Rapist

SEATTLE —

The Washington State Supreme Court tossed out Eugene Gregory’s death sentence for the rape and murder of his neighbor 10 years ago.

Gregory was sentenced to death five years ago for the rape and murder of Jeanine Harshfield.

The Supreme Court ruled Thursday that a trial judge made a mistake during three rape cases involving Gregory and tossed out the convictions.

The evidence in the rape trial was also used in Gregory’s murder sentence so the court tossed out his death sentence as well.
