PORT ORCHARD, Wash. —
Kitsap County deputies are conducting a murder investigation after a body was found at an apartment building near Port Orchard.
The victim, a woman believed to be in her 30s, was found in her unit at the South Park Greens Apartments in the 4000 block of Madrona Drive Southeast in South Kitsap Tuesday afternoon.
A family member discovered her body at about 3:30 p.m. and called police. Neighbors said it was her son who found the body. Investigators said that based on the crime scene, the woman appears to have been targeted.
The Sheriff's Office said that her car is missing. It is described as a gold 2001 Ford Focus with WA license 495-YLY, and the back two tires are donut spares.
KIRO 7 found a disturbing, unverified message with a link to a 4chan.org discussion in the comment section of the Port Orchard Independent.
On 4chan, the message was surrounded by photos of a dead woman's body, possibly the victim. The victim appears nude, with marks on her throat. The comment next to the photos reads, "Check the news for Port Orchard Washington in a few hours. Her son will be home from school soon. He'll find her, then call the cops. I just wanted to share the pics before they find me. I bought a BB gun that looks realistic enough. When they come, I'll pull it and it will be suicide by cop. I understand the doubts. Just check the f------ news. I have to lose my phone now."
Detectives called the images disturbing, but are still investigating to see if there is a link to the murder. However, with the threat of “suicide by cop” extra officers were stationed around the crime scene for protection.
Neighbors identified the victim as Amber Lynn.
All 16 schools in South Kitsap School District were placed on a modified lockdown as police searched for a murder suspect in Port Orchard on Wednesday. The district lifted the lockdown just before 10:30 a.m. after suspect David Kalac reportedly left Washington state.
Officers spotted the Ford at Southeast Ninth Avenue and Powell Boulevard in Portland. The driver sped away and led police on a chase. The vehicle was last seen speeding southbound on Barbur Boulevard passing Taylors Ferry Road.
Kalac, 33, has an active warrant on suspicion of second-degree murder out of Kitsap County.
Sheriff's investigators are asking anyone who sees the woman's car or Kalac to call the Kitsap County Sheriff's Office via 911 or call 360-308-5400.
