Deputies Seek To Identify 5 In Evergreen Riot

OLYMPIA, Wash. —

Investigators asked for the public's help in identifying five people they said were involved in a riot at the Evergreen State College in February.

Authorities said the five would likely face felony charges if they can be identified, according to a news release from the Thurston County Sheriff's Office.

The sheriff's office asked anyone with information to call 360-786-5500 or Crime Stoppers at 360-493-2222. Calling Crime Stoppers allows callers to remain anonymous.

The riot began when officers arrested a man accused of hitting a security volunteer at a hip-hop concert.

A crowd then surrounded the officer's car and demanded that the man be released. Later, a Thurston County Sheriff's Deputy’s car was overturned and three other cars were damaged before the crowd was dispersed by authorities.

Five people who were arrested after they were identified through video pleaded not guilty to rioting, malicious mischief and theft charges.
