SEATTLE —

Seattle police seized dozens of marijuana plants after King County deputies found them growing in a city park Saturday.

The 9-acre Llandover Woods Greenspace, which is part of the Seattle Parks and Recreation Department, is on the Seattle side of the boundary between Seattle and Shoreline near Northwest 145th Street and Third Avenue Northwest.

Deputies called Seattle police, who arrived at the park to find 40-45 small marijuana plants growing in planters.

Unless one has a license to grow marijuana for medicinal purposes, marijuana remains illegal to grow.

The plants were seized and will be destroyed.
