Driver Arrested After Chase, Crash

SEATTLE —

A driver who led state troopers on a chase was later arrested after his car struck a vehicle in Seattle's University District, police said.

Troopers said the man was driving erratically on Highway 99 and he sped off when they tried to pull him over. Troopers ended their pursuit to protect the public, they said.

Seattle police later spotted the man at Fifth Avenue Northeast and Northeast 50th Street, and he fled again, they said. He ran away after his car struck a Jeep, but police caught him, officers said.

Troopers said the man was taken to a hospital after he complained he was in pain.

He was arrested on suspicion of drunken driving and eluding police.
