TUKWILA —
A 19-year-old Pacific man was critically hurt in a head-on collision in Tukwila near the intersection of State Route 99 and SR 599.
A trooper noticed a driver of a Honda Civic on Interstate 5 near Southcenter was driving erratically on the freeway.
"He was traveling, the trooper estimated, at over 100 mph. The trooper wasn't able to keep up with him, and it wasn't safe to keep up with him," said Courtney Stewart of the Washington State Patrol.
The trooper followed the driver and found the Civic had jumped a barrier and hit a Mitsubishi Montero head-on.
Firefighters cut the driver from the Civic and medics took him to Harborview Medical Center.
The 28-year-old driver of the SUV was not seriously hurt, troopers said.
Troopers said it was unclear whether alcohol or drugs were factors in the crash.
