BELLINGHAM, Wash. —

A one car fatality crash shut down the offramp to the Bellisfair Mall in Whatcom county for several hours overnight Tuesday.

According to Washington State Patrol, a driver in his 20s was killed when he failed to negotiate a curve in the road and crashed his vehicle into a concrete traffic light at the end of the offramp around 12:30 a.m.

There were no other cars involved in the crash and the man was the only occupant in the vehicle.

A detour was set up at exit 256A for drivers as officers remained at the scene to investigate.

Troopers say the man was wearing his seatbelt but alcohol is a possible factor in the crash.
