Drunken Driver Blamed In Fatal Marysville Crash

MARYSVILLE, Wash. —

A drunken driver who was being chased by police caused a crash that killed a woman driving a sedan in Marysville late Friday night, police said.

Police said they were followed the suspected drunken driver who had hit two vehicles when he then crashed into a third, killing a 26-year-old woman.

The fatal crash happened near the Best Western Tulalip Inn, just west of Interstate 5.

Video shot by KIRO 7 Eyewitness News viewer Bill Gillam shows emergency crews arriving at the scene.

The pickup truck driven by the suspect, a 45-year-old Arlington man, was on its side. Police got him out when the truck caught fire. They also tried to help the 26-year-old woman in the other car, but she died at the scene.

The crash happened near a hotel driveway. Some hotel employees said they knew the victim, but the manager told KIRO 7 Eyewitness News reporter Stacy Sakamoto that she couldn't confirm anything out of respect for the woman's family.
