Duvall Boy Investigated For Shooting Plot At Tolt Middle School

DUVALL, Wash. —

An 11-year-old Duvall boy is in juvenile detention on accusations that he threatened to kill his family and several people at Tolt Middle School, according to documents from the King County Prosecutor’s office.

Police were called to the boy’s home earlier this month by a family member who said the family was in fear of their lives, according to the documents. The woman said that the boy had run away several times and that the family feared he may return to the home and harm or kill them, according to the documents.

Police searched a camper that the boy had been staying in during one of the times he ran away from home and found two shotguns and a loaded 9mm pistol, according to the documents. The boy later told a family member that he planned to kill more than 20 people, including teachers, students and alleged bullies, all of whom he named, as well as his family, according to the documents.

The boy has also been charged with an assault on his sister, according to court documents.

Anyone known to be directly involved in this investigation has been notified, Duvall-Carnation Police Chief Glenn E. Merryman said. The Police Department is working with the school district and other agencies to ensure the safety of the community, Merryman said.

We will update this story as we receive more information.
