EASTON, Wash. —
A 49-year-old Easton man was killed in a snowmobile accident on the outskirts of Easton Sunday.
The Kittitas County Sheriff's Department said witnesses saw James Okada driving at a high rate of speed on East Sparks Road during falling snow and slick conditions.
Okada, who was not wearing a helmet, was found ejected from his snowmobile and entangled in a guardrail near westbound exit 70 off Interstate 90 minutes after racing away from the Parkside Lounge where he was reported to have been drinking with friends, police said.
Okada's friends transported the victim back to the Parkside Lounge where medics responded but were unable to revive him.
